Marc Jacobs Spring Fashion Week – February, 2012

Creative Engineering

This is the first truly epic job I worked on in this industry.  Dozens of us worked twelve to 25 hour days for the two weeks leading up to the event to get the whole structure finished.  We had two full studios working to build the stage, and cut and paint the set-pieces, before it was assembled and painted again onsite.  Any time Brandon Stricklett shows up somewhere with cases of Redbull and 5 Hour Energy, you know you’re in for a long night.  I worked my first 22 hour shift, and watched as all of the pieces of the long, curvy stage, and massive ice castle began take shape.  I loved seeing this structure put together, even if the show it was built for took only 9 minutes.
