In 2011 I moved to New York City. I had about twenty-five hundred dollars to my name, two friends in the city, and no more prospects than I had left in Toronto. Three weeks into my new adventure I replied to a Craigslist post looking for freelance scenic painters. I’ll admit that I was lucky. I had no experience in the field, but some decent drawings and paintings, and a couple of people who were willing to take a chance on me.
Since that job I have worked for shops all over New York, and on projects as exciting and ambitious as they are impossible to explain. There is always something new to learn, and new areas to test your skill and endurance.
